Embrace the season with Christmas on the Peninsula - Nov. 28
By Brian Walks • Nov 2nd, 2009 • Category: Bulletin BoardSt. Mark’s Anglican Church and the St. Mark’s Men’s Club are proud to support the inaugural “Christmas on the Peninsula” being held November 28th at the White Rock Community Centre and at various locations around White Rock.
Christmas on the Peninsula is a celebration of Christmas in the Victorian/old-fashioned European style. The festivities include a Christmas market, entertainment and the lighting of the White Rock Christmas tree at White Rock Community Centre and Miramar Plaza.
Other events include:
- “Breakfast in Bethlehem” at First United Church from 9 am-noon;
- “Christmas Cafe” and “ Charity Fair” at Star of the Sea Hall from 11 am-3 pm;
- “Open House” at WR Playhouse from 11 am-3:30 pm;
- Christmas at Five Corners at noon;
- “Christmas Bazaar & Tea” and “Nativity Scenes Exhibit” at Holy Trinity Anglican Church at noon;
- “Sweet Adelines” at WR Playhouse at 2 pm;
- Film: “Charlie Brown Christmas” at Salvation Army Church at 1 & 3 pm;
- Film: “The Nativity” at Fellowship Baptist Church at 1 & 3 pm;
- “Candlelight Procession” at 4 pm;
- “Salvation Army Band” at Miramar Plaza at 4:45 & 5:30 pm;
- “Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony” at 5 pm and “Carols by Candlelight” singalong at St. John’s Presbyterian Church at 6 pm.

Brian Walks is a longstanding member of St. Mark's Ocean Park. He has been on many parish councils and has served many times as a Synod delegate. Brian has also been a member of Diocesan Council (1990-94); Diocesan Communications Committee (1994-99 & Sept. 2008-current) and the SIA Ministry Committee (1999-2002). Since retiring in June, 2008 from Canada Post with 35 years service, he has become more involved with Camp Artaban and taken over as chairman of the Journey of Christmas Committee on an interim basis.
