Environmental Ministry

The goal of the St. Mark’s environmental ministry (formally established in 2009) is to honor the Creator by caring for creation. This intentional activity has a history at St. Mark’s. Prior to using the forest behind St. Mark’s to house and present the “Journey of Christmas”, our congregation regularly worshiped in the forest chapel during the summer months.

Our current environmental stewardship efforts are also part of Eco-Congregation, a project of A Rocha Canada. Eco-Congregation originated in the United Kingdom as an ecumenical project. It helps churches make the link between environmental issues and Christian faith, while responding in practical action in the church, in the lives of individuals, and in the local and global community.
